Introducing BGP's Hannah Whelan
Introducing the bloody superb Hannah Whelan, BGP's Education Programme Manager. Hannah leads Bloody Good Education, the BGP programme providing education on 'anything in the knickers' for the people we work with.
What drew you to Bloody Good Period?
Menstrual injustice and Gabby Edlin's radical feminism.
What motivates you to get the job done?
The belief that education is at the crux of de-stigmatising and normalising menstruation.
What skills do you need to do your job?
Strong communication and organisation, critical thinking, and the ability to build and maintain relationships. Of course, kindness, passion, and curiosity always help.
What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Bloody Good Period?
The support across Bloody Good Period’s “web”. It’s an unstoppable network of babes - from Trustees, volunteers, fellow staff and followers, to our partner organisations and the women we work with.
Where would you like to travel to next?
I lived in The Netherlands for a couple of years so would love to pop back and scratch my Dutch itch.
Early Bird or Night Owl?
Fact or Fiction?
Coffee or Tea?
I’m off grid! Though I co-run a creative project called The Blobcast which is on Instagram. We made a swimsuit that might just be of interest .... Check it out at @blobcastpodcast
